Eric reckons …
Rolling Sasso has ticked all the boxes since his encouraging Narrogin debut 12 days ago, when he drifted back in the field before making up many lengths in the straight for a closing fourth. Was doing his best work on the line on that occasion which gives us the impression that the 930 metres was too short and today’s 1100-metre journey should be right up his alley.
Unfortunately, he does have an awkward barrier to content with (barrier 9) which means he will probably have to drift back in the field again, but if the pace is on up front it will give us a chance of making up ground in the straight. Hopefully, he doesn’t have to go too far back but the 1100-metre start at Northam is reasonably fair and he should still get his chance with the 400-metre long straight.
Verdict: We would be very pleased to see him running on to finish better than midfield (4th to 5th).
